Innovation Abounds at the 2019 Prototype Review
More than 20 student teams, ranging from 4th grade up to college level, gathered on February 8-9, 2019 at the Bridge Innovate Studio for the Bright Spark Prototype Review event to pitch solution designs tackling the challenge:
How might we design a connected community to help students and families in need thrive?
The Bright Spark Prototype Review was all about giving students feedback they can apply to their solutions before submitting their final versions on February 26, 2019. This year, 30+ industry, community, and education leaders served as Prototype Reviewers offering insights and expertise to help teams with next steps. Our reviewers applied design thinking by following the thought process of “I like, I like, I wonder,” which helps set students up to find solutions and improve their prototypes.
The chance for students and educators to meet and interact with a wide range of leaders is one of the most valuable aspects of this event, often creating connections that last long after everyone leaves the room.
“It is an absolute pleasure to be part of Bright Spark. Not sure if you noticed, but working with students, seeing the wonder in their eyes, and the passion in their hearts energizes me like nothing else. It's those moments that confirm the reason I got into teaching. Already looking forward to the next challenge.” Owen Foster | Co-founder/Director | SHiFT and Aether Learning
“It was quite inspiring on many levels!” William Tenison | Creative Director | USFloors
“It was thrilling to witness the creativity of students during the Prototype Review.” Patrick Miles | Director | United Way of Greater Chattanooga’s Hub for Social Innovation powered by Venture Forward
Thank you to our fantastic student teams who presented their prototypes and to our excellent line-up of Prototype Reviewers for a job well done. We were blown away by all the innovative ideas students shared with us and cannot wait to see the final presentations!
