New Design Thinking Workshops Coming to Chattanooga!

CHATTANOOGA, TN – Fortune 500 management consultant, Jenny Whitener, Bridge Innovate® CEO, is now opening her Design Thinking Crash Course and Challenge Lab to the public to cultivate innovation in the Gig City and throughout the Southeast.

Chattanooga-area business professionals and university students are eligible for these half- and full-day workshops. Participants will develop their creative confidence and Design Thinking, a problem-solving paradigm forged by IDEO and the Stanford University, acumen to apply in any industry, Whitener said.

Capital One, IBM, Coca-Cola, Blue Cross Blue Shield and General Electric use Design Thinking to innovate new product lines and solve internal company problems, Whitener said. The March 18 workshop will deliver these same techniques and tools for local professionals to use in their daily work.

“The Crash Course and Challenge Lab are great because they deliver the essentials of a four-month innovation journey in a matter of hours,” Whitener said. “The Crash Course guides participants through the basics of the Design Thinking process, and the Challenge Lab are an opportunity to put those new skills to the test with the immediate application and practice.”

Design Thinking skills will help professionals and students alike foster a spirit of innovation and human-centered problem solving as Chattanooga positions itself as a champion of innovation.

“We’ve seen first hand how Design Thinking can be a catalyst for transformation on macro and micro levels,” Whitener said. “From reinventing a company’s performance management to imagining high schools of the future, a human-centered approach to problem-solving teaches people how to think and see the world differently by igniting creativity and unlocking new opportunities to innovate everyday challenges.”

There are two Design Thinking workshops on March 18:

  • Crash Course (8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.): Discover the foundational principles of Design Thinking. Professionals will experience the award-winning ExperienceInnovation™ simulation co-created by our partners IDEO and Experience Point in this half-day workshop.
  • Challenge Lab (8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.): Participants looking to go one step beyond the Crash Course into immediate application of Design Thinking skills can register for the Challenge Lab and stay for the remainder of the day to explore the challenge: How might we create collective impact for social good?

Those who register before March 6 will receive Jake Knapp's bestselling book, Sprint: How to Solve Big Problems and Test New Ideas in Just Five Day for free.
