Bright Spark Spotlight: Design Competition Time is Here!

How might we spark innovation in the minds of the next generation?

As a spark of Bridge Innovate, Bright Spark trains and enables our community of educators and students to use design thinking. Through design thinking, educators optimize their learning environment. Through educators optimizing their learning environment, the next generation of innovators and leaders are equipped with the creative capabilities to tackle future challenges.

For the last four years, Bright Spark has hosted its signature Design Competition where participating schools register teams of students under the leadership of a teacher to develop innovative solutions to a given challenge. Registration is currently open until November 15th for teams interested in participating in the 2017-2018 Design Competition - Transportation of the Future. Teams will create a solution for the following design challenge:

How Might We reimagine the transportation system of the future to move people and products more efficiently while protecting our natural resources?

In addition to our 4th-12th grade student track, we’re excited to announce the launch of our higher education track, enabling college-level teams with an advising professor to participate for the first time. Check out more details on Transportation of the Future Design Competition team eligibility, guidelines, etc.

From now through the end of the year, educators and students have a chance to learn more about the innovation process through:

  • Design thinking training opportunities, such as the upcoming December 2nd Design Thinking Crash Course

  • Webinar discussions with thought leaders from companies like Porsche, Intel, Georgia Ports Authority, and more.

The competition phase kicks off on January 9, 2018, and teams will be guided in the process of developing creative designs by advisors from VW, Coca Cola, Branch Technology, and other partners. Finally, students will gather together to present their designs and be judged by industry leaders at the Student Design Awards on March 20, 2018.

At Bridge Innovate, we are passionate about equipping people with better solutions and strategies for better ideas. Through Bright Spark's Design Competitions, we are able to give our students access to tools, and unite them with industry leaders for the sake of future innovation and design.
